The internet is scary. In fact, it’s intimidating especially for the new breeds out there. But that doesn’t change your resolve, does it? Anyone who runs a website wants to increase traffic ratings.
This could lead to big things if it does happen. Bigger opportunities are present when you’re ranking all the way to the top. However, like I said earlier, it isn’t easy.
There ARE a lot of SEO optimized websites which contain tons of information. Fear would usually consume an inexperienced owner. More so if you don’t have a consultant helping you.
Technology has gone beyond our imagination as we experience a revolutionary change of modernism. Using it to our advantage, search engines are currently evolving at a greater scale.
To be more precise, it has become more human-like. The way results are being ranked has evolved. Optimization itself is now advanced than ever before.
This gives you the chance of customizing your website to fully capitalize on SEO. With that being said, here are 10 HTML Guidelines For SEO which will make your website jump from ordinary rankings.
Let’s start with the most important on our list. You can’t post some random blog with a half-baked title – that won’t get any clicks at all!
If your title is well-optimized, it’s eye-catching to the people. Think of titles on which you would be curious of, that helps. Of course, if this goes on, more clicks will instantly make your site popular. For instance, when we worked for one of our client who are car parking shades suppliers in UAE. We tried to create attractive titles for the blog section despite it was a local seo website and creating catchy title for dry and boring businesses can be a daunting task.
As much as possible, use the keyword at the start of your title. If it’s impossible to so, you can place the keyword anywhere in the title.
Being a wise guy doesn’t help – don’t overdo it. Once is enough, twice won’t help. As a matter of fact, it’ll because of your site’s slow traffic. For a well-structured title, keep at a minimum. Don’t let it reach more than 65 characters.
Arrangement of Post Permalink
Who wants to click on something that looks made by an amateur? The first impression is everything. The URL should be presented appropriately. One of the most crucial things here is on-page metric.
Just like the previous number, the target keyword is everything. Ideally, the keyword should be part of the URL. Here are some pro tips as well – don’t use special characters.
These may be commas, periods, brackets, and symbols. Just be sure that these aren’t existing in the URL itself. Another thing, you can utilize dashes to distinguish certain strings in the structure altogether.
These are often referred as pretty permalinks. Moreover, this has the backing by popular browsers on the web.
Check Heading Tags
This is important as you’ll be able to highlight on relevant headings. If there’s something which you find significant – headings and sub-headings – this is the best way to do so.
If you are using wordpress, you’ll be able to see that it has been set at H1. However, there’s no need to add more tags, it’s just a waste of time. In dealing with section breaks, you can just go with H2 and H3 tags.
While it’s okay to use tags on the two, don’t abuse it! Unfortunately, Google uses another algorithm. It’ll be contradictory on how it’s being set to analyze. Results will not be the type to look forward to.
Density of Keywords
Keywords should be maintained at least at 1.5%. Of course, this already comes with other LSI keywords combination.
You should use they keyword – specifically, your main keyword – in the first sentence of your article. It should be present as well at the last paragraph of your blog post.
It doesn’t limit only to these two rules, you may use it wherever you think is fitting. Make sure the sentence is naturally put together. Don’t make it awkward or forced.
On every single blog post, you publish, there should be a meta description. Make sure that it’s original and relevant to the content as well. Like always, the keyword should be present as well.
Not too much, though. Spamming the description is only asking for trouble. It’s true that engines are able to detect, but no one wants to open an ugly meta description. Which means no traffic!
Before anything else, I’d like to point out that Google overlooks this. Keep it going, though, Bing still includes it as part of the whole picture.
Images are a key to optimization. Whether your imageries are well-made or not could either lead to the success of your website or to its downfall. Hopefully, it’s the former.
Make sure you have placed the keyword in the image title. Don’t forget the alt text as well. When these two factors are being taken care of, your posts are more heightened and focused.
It’s not only that, though, pictures are awesome for communication with your readers and visitors. If you made it really cool and useful, they’ll become an avid reader of your site – MORE TRAFFIC!
Words Per Post
Informative content is everything – you can’t expect a helpful content that’s only about 100 words. The shorter your posts are, the more people will ignore your blog.
I’m not generalizing, though, it’s true that there are occasions where this is acceptable. But were talking about blogs in general. The standard word count is 500.
You know what they say, it’s better to have more than less. It’ll also help you compete with other blogs as well.
In-house Website Linking
On one certain blog, put in links which will direct them to your other articles on the website. This is actually a pretty useful technique.
Without realizing it, the reader has been jumping from one page to another. Also, he’s been spending a lot of time on your website. While it’s a cool trick, only use interlinking when it’s related and significant.
You might have already guessed it, it’s the opposite of the previous number. Your posts are only limited. By linking out to other websites, readers will be able to get information with certain things.
It’s important to be careful when you’re linking out. Preferably, only use websites which are accurate and trusted. Also, only link out when it’s relevant.
Content Should Be Engaging
There’s no shortcut to attaining a well-ranked website with poor quality content. The content is the soul of your blog posts. Try finding on what can you do to engage your audience.
Perhaps asking for recommendations and questions at the end of a post. Know what they want, and be the answer to it.
